The UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems has had a long and fruitful association with our partner hospitals and works actively to maintain and strengthen these partnerships.
UCD is the academic partner for the Ireland East Hospital Group, the largest of the country's hospital groups. The Group provides the School with enormous opportunities to expand the range of clinical and research experience available to our undergraduate and graduate students.
Within the wide range of clinical sites, our students advance their repertoire of knowledge and skills for research and practice in a variety of health service settings and contexts. Knowledge and skills for professional nursing and midwifery practice, and for research are essential elements of our programmes which are designed and delivered with our health service partners. Learning within these sites is both directed and self-directed, and students are supported in identifying and optimising their learning experiences and reflecting on them. Learning is further facilitated through the use of innovative teaching-learning methods in the classroom, workshops, clinical skills laboratories as well as in real-world settings.
