Implementing the Ten Year Plan – The Report of the Special Committee on the Future of Healthcare

There will be a presentation by Róisín Shortall T.D and Chairperson of the Special Committee on the Future of Healthcare on Tuesday, 20th June in B005 UCD Health Sciences Centre from 9.45am - 11.30am. 

Following the presentation there will be a panel discussion chaired by Professor Eilish McAuliffe, Professor of Health Systems UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems with contributions from those working in the system and members of the public. The other member of the panel are:

Mr Eugene Callan, Disability Federation of Ireland Public representative on the SAFE Project- Systematic Approach to Improving care for Frail Older patients
Dr Diarmuid O Shea, Consultant physician in medicine for the elderly and head of department in St Vincent's University Hospital and clinical lead on the National Programme for Older Persons with the Health Service Executive
Rosarii Mannion, National Director of Human Resources, HSE

Background:
Chaired by Róisín Shortall the Special Committee on Future of Healthcare was established in June 2016 with the aim of achieving cross-party consensus on the long-term vision for health care and health policy, and to make recommendations to the Dáil in that regard. The final report is due in May 2017. Róisín Shortall is co-founder and joint-leader of the Social Democrats party. She is a TD for Dublin North-West and was first elected in 1992, Róisín has been re-elected at every General Election since – giving her over 20 years’ experience in national politics.
