ANP’s are clinical decision makers and registered nurse prescribers with the responsibly to manage identified patient case-loads independently and automatically within an agreed governance structure. UCD was the first university in Ireland to develop the MSc in Advance Practice in 2001. The programme is now a national curriculum and offered within a consortium of 4 universities – UCC, NUIG, TCD and UCD.

The Pain Pathway Developmental Education Program has NMBI Approval from October 2019 until October 2024 and graduates are eligible to apply to the NMBI for registration as aRegistered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP).
